Police Successfully Thwarted the Methamphetamine Circulation from International Syndicate

inp.polri.go.id - The West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit have succeeded in thwarting the distribution of drugs from the Myanmar - Malaysia - Pekanbaru - Jakarta international network, and from the results of the disclosure officers managed to secure 44 large packages containing methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 44,074 grams (44 kg) which were packaged using Chinese tea pack. West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Pasma Royce said, "We succeeded in thwarting the illicit trafficking of methamphetamine from the Myanmar - Malaysia - Pekanbaru - Jakarta international network. From the results of the disclosure, we managed to secure a person who acted as a drug courier," he explained, Friday (2/9/22). The disclosure began with an investigation led by the Head of Drug Investigation of the West Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Akmal, for two weeks in the Pekanbaru Riau area. The team managed to arrest a person with the initials AM (29) who acted as a drug courier. "We secured the perpetrators when they wanted to unload methamphetamine from a car," explained the Police Chief. From the results of the search, we found methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 44,074 grams (44 KG) which was packaged using Chinese tea packets. The suspect stated that the illicit drugs would be circulated in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. "The suspect works as a courier for methamphetamine. He is promised a salary of around Rp10.000.000, per successful transaction,” said Commissioner Pasma Royce. The perpetrator will be charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) sub-Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the threat of capital punishment, life imprisonment, or a maximum imprisonment of 20 years.
