inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. West Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police successfully stopped a potential brawl of students in Wijaya Kusuma, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta.
Head of West Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Uniformed Regular Police Directorate, Superintendent M Hari Agung Julianto says the students were secured after the police were patrolling around the school on Thursday.
Moreover, the police have heard the information from the locals that they saw a group of teenagers carrying sharp weapons gathering in one place. Public suspects that they are about to clash with another group of students.
"Residents reported that a group of teenagers were carrying sharp weapons around the area. The team immediately responded by moving to the location to prevent clashes between students," Agung explained.
Hari and his team then arrived at the location and found the described group and immediately secured the students.
After successfully apprehending five of the students, police did a search and found two machetes that were suspected to be used for the brawl. They were then taken directly to the Grogol Petamburan Police Sector for further processing.
"We are not only taking firm action, but also educating the youth so that they do not get involved in illegal acts," explained the Head of West Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police.
On the same occasion, Agung expressed his appreciation for the quick reports from the public that helped anticipate potential acts of public order disturbances.
"This is the result of good cooperation between the police and residents. We will continue to increase patrols to prevent similar things from happening in the West Jakarta jurisdiction," he concluded.
