inp.polri.go.id – The National Police Chief (Kapolri), Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc., ensures that his party is committed to be open to criticism to make the institution becomes much better in the future. This was conveyed by Kapolri while attending the 2022 Hoegeng Awards at The Tribrata Building, South Jakarta, Friday (1/7/2022). "That's where we certainly try to improve ourselves, open up a space for criticism. So, we will get to know ourselves better and what we have to improve," said Kapolri. According to him, criticism, suggestions or input from the community is used as an evaluation and encouragement to continue to make improvements. He likens the criticism to a medicine in the form of a bitter pill that must be swallowed. "That pill is bitter, but we have to take it so we can be healthy. That’s what it’s like taking a criticism, to make this organization or institution good, so it can be trusted and accepted by the public, and they can be satisfied with the services provided by us," said Kapolri. Regarding the Hoegeng Awards, the former Head of Criminal Investigation Agency of Polri admitted that the Hoegeng Iman Santoso, the former National Police Chief General, should be used as a role model by all Police personnel in Indonesia. "I and all of us agree that Sir Hoegeng is the perfect role models for us, one of the perfect figure that we have so far. He has reached a legendary status for his deeds in his era," said the former Banten Police Chief. According to General Listyo, Hoegeng’s legacy should be used as encouragement for the institution to continue to strive to become what the community expects. "It should be a guide for all of us, to become a good institution as expected by the community," said Kapolri. He emphasized that with the Hoegeng Awards, his spirit still could be preserved, a police figures that are seen by the public as worthy of a label. This awards is part of the Polri’s effort to continue the struggle of General Hoegeng. "So then, we can really become the Police who are the hope of the community, because we really need support, we need criticism, we need a bitter pill to swallow, to become better. Thank you and congratulations to my colleagues. And I'm sure there will be another Hoegeng that will shows up in the future and we will continue to instill his exemplary spirit in our hearts and that becomes our spirit to continue to be better," said Kapolri.
