Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo conveyed his message to prevent political competition in the 2024 Elections from hindering government programs.

"I want to emphasize several crucial points that demand our attention. Firstly, we must maintain focus and vigilance in anticipating potential crises. The interests of the people and the nation should be prioritized. We must ensure that political competition does not hinder government programs," said President Jokowi in Jakarta on Monday (3/7/23).

President Jokowi expressed his gratitude for the sustained and relatively high national economic growth, surpassing five percent. The national economy has exhibited growth above five percent for six consecutive quarters.

Moreover, the World Bank has once again classified Indonesia as an upper middle-income country as of July 2023, after temporarily being designated a lower middle-income country in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Nevertheless, the challenges we face in the second half of 2023 are formidable. We must exercise caution and address several critical aspects," President Jokowi said.

These include the prevailing instability in the global environment, ongoing geopolitical tensions, which influence economic growth and weaken trade activities, as well as predictions from various international institutions regarding a global economic slowdown and the rise in global interest rates.

"Therefore, I want to remind everyone that the potential political competition leading up to the 2024 Elections should not hinder government programs," concluded President Jokowi.
