inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the strength of the Developing Eight (D-8) member countries is a transformative force.
This statement was delivered at the plenary session of the 11th D-8 Summit at the New Administrative Capital Presidential Palace, Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday (19/12/2024) local time.
"We must realize that D-8 does indeed have enormous potential. Overall, D-8 represents the third largest economic growth globally with a combined GDP of USD4.81 trillion in 2023," said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo highlighted the enormous potential of D-8 in advancing the welfare of its member communities. One of them is by utilizing the blue economy as one of the pillars of strategic cooperation.
"All D-8 countries are in a unique position to utilize the benefits and resources of the blue economy. This is a very strategic cooperation," explained President Prabowo.
In addition, President Prabowo encouraged the implementation of preferential trade agreements to strengthen the halal value chain through the D-8 halal economic network. According to him, the D-8 must be more than just an economic bloc, but rather a global movement that is inclusive, just, and pays attention to shared prosperity.
"We must also continue to advocate for a more just global order based on international law, inclusiveness, justice, and shared prosperity," said President Prabowo.
In his closing statement, President Prabowo also invited state leaders to make the D-8 a catalyst for positive change. He also emphasized Indonesia's commitment to strengthening collaboration between countries and encouraging economic growth for the welfare of the people.
"Let's make the D-8 organization a hope for the entire nation and the world," calls President Prabowo.
