The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit said that there had been two incidents of child exploitation in Palembang, all of which were perpetrated by parents against their children. "To prevent similar incidents, our members of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) will carry out routine patrols to areas prone to child exploitation," explained Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Tuesday (10/12/2021). In addition, parents or families who are caught employing minors to commit abuse will do the same thing with the case of Oktarina, who beat her child. The act of persecution took place in the Jalan Sudirman area, precisely at the intersection of four red lights at the Charitas Palembang Hospital, Ilir Timur I District, Palembang, Sunday (10/10/2021) at around 08.00 PM. Then the perpetrator was immediately picked up at his residence on Governor H. Bastari street at Lorong Harapan 1, Jakabaring Palembang District, at around 11:00 PM, by members of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Palembang Resort Departemental Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, led by Police Inspector First Class Hj. Fifin Sumailan. "For whoever it is, we will give punishment based on the applicable article, up to the detention of those who exploit children," he explained. Regarding the case of Oktarina, who beat her son DRA (6) for not getting the deposit money, the Criminal Investigation Unit Head said that his party would conduct a neurological and psychological examination of the perpetrator. "We will ask for help from the South Sumatra Regional Police psychologist so that we know the mental condition of this perpetrator, and if later we are still lacking, we will check the perpetrator's psyche to the Ernaldi Bahar Mental Hospital (RSJ) Palembang," he said.
