Inp.polri.go.id - Manado. Sam Ratulangi Airport, managed by PT Angkasa Pura I, will stay shut until Wednesday (1/5/2024) at 12 00 pm local time due to volcanic ash eruptions from Mount Ruang in North Sulawesi. 

General Manager Maya Damayanti confirmed the extension of the closure, emphasizing collaboration with the Airport Authorities, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and stakeholders for safety.

The closure has disrupted travel plans, compelling passengers to reschedule flights to and from Manado. 

Mount Ruang's volcanic activity, monitored by the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG), shows ongoing escalation with eruptions and pyroclastic flows until 08:48 AM Wita on Tuesday.

The alert level for Mount Ruang has been raised from Level III to Level IV since 1:30 am on Monday.
