Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir has announced a full-scale review of state-owned energy company PT Pertamina (Persero) following a corruption scandal involving senior executives at its subsidiaries: PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Pertamina International Shipping, and Kilang Pertamina Internasional.
“We will reassess PT Pertamina’s structure and identify necessary reforms. This includes evaluating the roles of SKK Migas, the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of SOEsto ensure better governance,” he said on Saturday (1/3/2025).
In collaboration with the Energy Ministry, the SOEs Ministry is mapping out solutions, including corporate restructuring to streamline operations, according to antaranews.com.
The SOEs Ministry has pledged full cooperation with the Attorney General’s Office in tackling corruption, citing past actions in the state-owned insurance companies Asabri and Jiwasraya cases.
Regarding the appointment of a new CEO for Pertamina Patra Niaga, Minister Erick confirmed that discussions are ongoing with PT Pertamina’s Board of Commissioners.
