Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the security operation in Papua was carried out by several task forces (task forces). This is because apart from the operation to free the Susi Air Pilot, which is still ongoing, the Eid 2023 security operation is also being implemented.

"Maybe I answered earlier related to security issues in the Papua region, at this time we are continuing the operational activities that have been carried out because indeed we have fielded the Damai Carstensz Operation team, then “Aman Nusa” which includes the TNI-Polri," said General Sigit after the meeting cross-sectoral coordination of preparations for the 2023 Eid homecoming at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Thursday (4/6/23).

According to him, related to the Damai Carstensz Operation, currently, the focus is on carrying out law enforcement and searching for hostages.

"Of course about the Papua region which is currently heating up, we and the Commander Chief of Indonesia Military continue to take steps and efforts, both hard approach activities and soft approach activities to improve the welfare of the Papuan people," said General Sigit.

Sigit added his party together with the Indonesian Military is also preparing for security preparations for the establishment of a new area of authority (DOB). The reason is, in 2024 the new autonomous regions in Papua must be established.
