inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of Police Public Affairs and Press Directorate, Police Inspector General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono, explained that socialization on the importance of the Papua Special Autonomy Law (Otsus) is one of the ways the Indonesian National Police anticipates the increasing number of supporters of armed criminal groups. "Namely by inviting religious, community, and customary figures from Papua to help the government to provide socialization to build collective community awareness of the importance of the Special Autonomy Law in order to improve the welfare of the Papuan community," explained the Chief of Police Public Affairs and Press Directorate through a text message on Friday (14 May 2021) In addition, another way is to win the Papuan hearts and minds of the local community through a gentle approach. The two-star general assessed that using such an approach would foster a sense of security for the community. "With the Binmas Noken program," concluded the Chief of Police Public Affairs and Press Directorate. For the information, Binmas Noken Indonesian National Police is a special task force under Operation Nemangkawi, which General (retired) Tito Karnavian formed in 2018. Binmas Noken is interpreted as a police operation to uplift the dignity of the people's lives in Papua.
