Inp.polri.go.id - Bratislava. Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has warned participants in the upcoming 2024 elections not to engage in campaign activities that could lead to social polarization, antaranews.com reported.
"It is important for the players, actors, participants to abide by the rules and ensure that there are no actions that could cause social division. That's for the participants," he said when asked for his reaction after attending a national dialogue with the Indonesian community in Slovakia in Bratislava, Slovakia on Sunday (26/11/2023).
The official campaign process for the 2024 elections will begin on Tuesday.
Addressing the election organizing bodies, Vice President Ma'ruf asserted the importance of fairness and compliance. He also instructed security forces and civil servants to remain neutral.
"The election organizers must be fair. The security forces should also remain neutral, as well as civil servants, all of them," he said.
The Vice President also expressed the hope that the public would not be easily provoked by issues that could lead to divisions. He urged citizens to be vigilant against the spread of misinformation and fake news (hoaxes), which often occur during elections.
"Issues of misinformation, hoaxes, which always arise during elections, shouldn't provoke us with unfavourable issues,"he said.
