inp.polri.go.id – West Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Verdianto Iskandar Bitticaca, ensures that people affected by floods and landslides in Mamuju and Majene Regencies will receive assistance from the police. "We ensure that flood-affected people of Mamuju and Majene regencies will receive their assistance," said the West Sulawesi Regional Police Chief, Wednesday (10/12). Mamuju and Majene regencies were hit by floods and landslides which caused the road connecting the two areas to be completely cut off. Floods caused by overflowing river water also caused several school buildings, houses, and rice fields belonging to the locals to be submerged in water. The West Sulawesi Regional Police then moved quickly by deploying a joint SAR team from the West Sulawesi Regional Mobile Brigade Unit, Samapta Directorate, and Mamuju Police to evacuate the victims. "Yesterday, when the flood happened, we had deployed our personnel and reviewed the condition of the area affected by the disaster and ensured that the victims received their help," said the Head of the West Sulawesi Regional Police. The downpour had caused floods and landslides in the two districts. This has forced the people to evacuate to safer places. "There are several family who choose to evacuate to a safe place or in to their relative's homes," explained the Head of the West Sulawesi Police.
