Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes (Satgas TPPO) of the Indonesian National Police (INP) has taken action against 680 cases as of June 5th to July 16th, 2023. During the period, a total of 795 suspects have been arrested. "As of July 16th, the Satgas TPPO has handled 680 cases, resulting in the arrest of 795 suspects," stated Police Senior Superintendent Nurul Azizah, the Head of Public Information Department of the INP Public Relations Division, during a press conference on Monday (17/7/23). She added that out of the 680 cases, the Satgas TPPO, the Criminal Investigation Agency, and Regional Police offices, has rescued 2.093 victims. The most common modus operandi in TPPO, she said, is promising victims job opportunities as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and Domestic Workers (PRT). A total of 471 cases have been uncovered using this modus operandi. Another modus operandi used by the suspects is forcing victims into commercial sex work, with 201 cases found by the investigators. Additionally, there are 9 cases related to victims being forced to work as crew members (ABK) and 47 cases of child exploitation. (ay/hn/um)
