inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The West Nusa Tenggara will soon host the MotoGP Mandalika on September 27th-29th. Therefore, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) facilitates the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government to anticipate the dangers of earthquakes and tsunamis.

"This was done through a space rehearsal or TTX (table top exercise) in Mataram, on Tuesday (9/24/2024). This was done to strengthen the preparation of stakeholders, especially in anticipating geological hazards," said Deputy for Systems and Strategy of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Raditya on Wednesday (9/25/2024).

He further said that the implementation of TTX aims, among other things, to increase mutual understanding. Especially regarding the importance of disaster-related information and integrated communication in the implementation of MotoGP Mandalika 2024.

In his statement, he also reminded of the potential for a megathrust earthquake in southern Lombok, as well as the earthquake that occurred in 2018. Therefore, he asked the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in NTB to always be responsive, adaptive, anticipatory and put the safety of the people above all else.

"Through discussion-based simulations, TTX helps identify weaknesses in contingency plans. Then, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and chains of command in emergency situations," he said.

At the end of the opportunity, he explained that these preparedness efforts were inseparable from historical records of earthquakes and tsunamis in the NTB region and its surroundings. "Among them in 1815, 1818, and 1917," he concluded.
