inp.polri.go.id - West Sumbawa. Another unfortunate accident happened, involving two people from Lampok Village who were washed away by the river current when fishing after a downpour for the last two days.

The Vice Head of West Sumbawa Sub-regional Police, Police Assistant Superintendent Sidik Pria Mursita explains that one of the victims, Pandi (18), is still missing, while his friend, Bambang (18) has already been found safely.

“The joint search and rescue team from the police, military, volunteers, and the people are still trying to find the missing victim,” says Sidik.

Sidik also explains that the continuous hard rain has caused the fast-flowing and dangerous river currents. Authorities urge the public to be more vigilant and avoid activities around rivers and seas during extreme weather.

“We appeal to the public to not do any activities around the river nor sea for the safety of themselves and the wider public. We have to remember that our own safety is our priority, especially during this uncertain weather condition,” appealed Sidik.

As of now, the search is still ongoing. The rescue team hopes that the weather would be getting better so the search process can go effectively.
