inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Director General of Consumer Protection and Business Order (PTKN) of the Trade Ministry, Moga Simatupang says the task force of handling illegal import items will be active for a year.

“They will be active for a year. In the meantime, we will continue to evaluate its performance,” said Moga on Wednesday (7/17/2024). He adds that the evaluation will also determine whether the task force will be pushed further or stopped immediately.

The task force that will handle the illegal import items hopefully could begin their operation on July 19th, 2024. According to Moga, his party is still coordinating with other related ministries and institutions.

The formation of the task force began when the Trade Ministry found items that were not on the list were flooding the Indonesian market.

On the formation of the task force, they will target the commodities of textiles, ceramics, footwear, apparel, cosmetics and electronics.

Meanwhile, the task force will also focus their target operation in Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, Batam, and South Sulawesi as those locations are prone to be the place for the illegal imported goods to enter.
