Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) presents seven priority programs for 2024 in building community sustainability and awareness against violent and terrorism ideologies.
The Chair of BNPT, Commissioner General Rycko Amelza Dahniel says the four priority programs including women, children and youth empowerment programs; establishment of prepared villages; establishment of peace schools; and the establishment of a nationalism campus.
“The first four programs are dedicated to establish public resilience, particularly for the women, children, and youth so that these group have the sustainability and shield against violent and terrorism ideologies,” said BNPT Chief on Tuesday (2/20/2024).
The three other priority programs are the assessment of employee with the high-risk job; the handling of Indonesian association affiliated with Foreign Terrorist Fighter (FTF); and reintegration and reeducation deradicalization partners and families in rehabilitation center.
Furthermore, the priority programs also the implementation of Presidential Decree (Perpres) Number 7 of 2021 regarding the National Action Plan for Preventing and Combating Violent Extremism that Leads to Terrorism (RAN PE) for 2020–2024.
Moreover, the seven priority programs are also based on the shifting of terrorism pattern. Rycko says that the approach from the terrorist group to lure their targets have shifted from stern to soft, from bullet to ballot.
On the other hand, based on the Indonesia Knowledge Hub (I-KHub) of BNPT shows that women, children, and youth are part of vulnerable groups and became the prime target for the groups.
The research result from 2016-2023 from Setara Institute also showed migration increase in youth groups for radicalization.
“Although the increase was just one digit, this vulnerable group is our future generations,” said BNPT Chief.
