Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. With the rapid advancement of information and communication technology, so does the threat and vulnerabilities it creates for the public. In the face of this relatively new threat, the Deputy Cyber Security Operation of BSSN held a National Cyber Exercise to boost national awareness against cyber threats.

The event begins with an opening remark from Head of BSSN, Hinsa Siburian at the Hall of dr. Roebiono Kertopati, the Main Office of BSSN, in Sawangan, Depok, West Java.

In his remarks, Hinsa says that cyber security now has become a strategic issue for various countries, including Indonesia. He continued saying that the theme for the 2024 National Cyber Exercise will be about ransomware, a type of malware that is the most dangerous that could hold hostage a data.

“From the landscape of the technical cyber threats in 2023 that we have issued, we predict that in 2024, the attack of ransomware, phishing, and Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) will be the three cyber threats that will dominate the scene for its effectivity and benefits for the assailants,” explain Hinsa.

Therefore, the National Cyber Exercise becomes vital in preparing against the threat of cyber attacks.

Hinsa hopes that participants can follow the National Cyber Exercise activities well so that they can eventually secure the electronic system through their respective CSIRT, particularly in handling the issues of ransomware.
