The East Java Regional Police have uncovered a case of subsidized fuel misuse involving two suspects, identified as AM and HNS, confirmed Police Superintendent Arman, the Vice Director of East Java Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, on Monday (11/12/23). Providing further details, he explained that the investigation was initiated when officers from the East Java Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate discovered a modified truck refueling with bio solar, a subsidized fuel variant. Upon inspection, they uncovered approximately 2,000 liters of bio solar stored in a tank within the truck's cargo area. "We discovered around 2,000 liters," he said. He further explained that the truck had been retrofitted with four containers in its cargo area, each capable of holding 1,000 liters. These containers were linked to the truck's fuel tank, enabling the automatic transfer of fuel to the truck's tank when refueling at a gas station by activating the pump switch. "The suspect acquired bio solar fuel at the Sumorame Village gas station, Candi District, Sidoarjo Regency, employing various vehicle barcode scans," Vice Director Arman added. The suspects are charged under Oil and Natural Gas Law, as amended by Law Number 6/2023 on the Ratification of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 on Job Creation into Law, in conjunction with Article 55, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of 6 years in prison and a fine of up to IDR 60,000,000,000.   (ar/ay/pr/nm)
