Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  A fire broke out at the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) headquarters on Jalan Proklamasi, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday morning (29/9/2024) allegedly due to an electrical short circuit.

“The suspected cause is a short circuit,” said Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Chief Isnawa Adji, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Firefighters deployed 95 personnel and 19 fire trucks to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building. The emergency response team included members from BPBD’s Quick Response Team (TRC), the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), the Jakarta Health Department’s Emergency Ambulance (AGD), Transportation Agency, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), state utility company PLN, and other agencies.

The fire, which started on the building’s fourth floor, was reported at 6.25 am, and firefighting efforts began two minutes later. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and investigating whether there were any casualties.
