inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Transportation Ministry through their Air Transportation Directorate General is calibrating Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Airport before officially operating. The Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi states that the launching of the calibration mission was executed on Tuesday (9/10/2024) as a follow up of IKN Airport verification on September 8-9, 2024.

“The airport calibration was to ensure the security and safety of the airport and to ensure the operation of the air transportation supporting equipment goes accordingly and accurately. After the calibration, the airport can be used for the visit of the President this week,” says Minister Budi on Tuesday (9/10/2024).

Calibration is the first step of the assessment of an airport that will be followed with other several assessments relating to safety and security of the flights. Calibration was performed on several landing aid equipment.

Other than calibrating, there is also validation flight procedure with Performance Base Navigation (PBN). Furthermore, the Transportation Ministry will do several other assessments before issuing recommendations for further airport management.

The progress of IKN Airport establishment also continues with satisfying speed. As of now, the airport already has 2,200 x 30 meters runaway. while the construction of VVIP terminal airport has been completed for 90%. On the other hand, the building of VIP terminal airport completion progress has reached 80%.

In general, the Transportation Ministry is optimistic that IKN airport development will be completed on December 31st, 2024.
