Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia will develop a 250 megawatt nuclear power plant by 2032, according to the revised National Energy Policy (KEN) as outlined in the recently approved government regulation draft.
Eniya Listiani Dewi, the Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said on Friday (6/9/2024) that preparations must begin immediately, as reported by antaranews.com.
The project will involve selecting suitable technology, including small modular reactors), high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, or thorium reactors. A national nuclear regulatory organization will be established to oversee and ensure the safety of the project.
Deputy Rachmat Kaimuddin from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment added that the development will commence in the early 2030s.
