Inp.polri.go.id - Labuan Bajo. The Head of the Security Maintenance Board of Indonesian National Police (INP) Commissioner General Mohammad Fadil Imran announced that all security arrangements for the 42nd ASEAN Summit are currently in a state of readiness to ensure the success of the event.

He emphasized that while the smooth and secure running of the event is a top priority, the daily activities of the local population and tourists must also be taken into account.

"Labuan Bajo's unique geographic structure poses different challenges compared to Bali. For instance, in order to ensure smooth traffic flow, road infrastructure improvements are crucial. However, it is also important to enable the local community to carry out their daily and economic activities, and to ensure that tourists visiting Labuan Bajo during the ASEAN Summit can enjoy their visit. While ensuring security and smooth operations is a top priority, community and tourist activities must also be able to continue," he explained on Tuesday (9/5/23).

He elaborated that the security plan includes both primary regional police and supporting regional police. The supporting regional police will assist the primary regional police in ensuring the security of the event. For instance, the Bali Regional Police has been tasked with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of delegations and Heads of State in Bali.

"For the INP, the success of the event is not the only priority. It is also hoped that by holding the event in Labuan Bajo, which is a well-known tourist destination, the area will be fully utilized and recognized as a safe and comfortable tourist destination," he concluded.
