PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) implores public to avoid doing any activities near the railways as there are many people found doing their daily activities near the railways ranging from celebration parties, gathering and other activities. Vice President Public Relations KAI Joni Martinus says that those kind of activities are not only endangering the people but also potentially violates the applicable law. “It has been regulated in Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Trains where people who disrupts trains in the railways could be charged with criminal crimes and imprisoned for three months at most and a maximum fine of IDR 15,000,000,” said VP Joni on Wednesday (1/31/2024). The law could be charge to anyone who violates the law, such as using the railways for other use or building something on the railways. “We implore the community to be aware and proactively join in creating mutual safety around the railways,” said Joni.
