Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) aims for more ambitious reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2024 through policies of limitations and prohibitions of ozone depleting substances.
“In 2024, we have more ambitious goal of gas emissions reduction by reducing the use of ozone depleting substances,” says the Director General of Climate Change Control, Laksmi Dwanthi on Thursday (28/12/23).
Government aims for the limitations of ozone depleting substances use such as Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) to help reduce the effect of global warming and protect the ozone. The regulation will be in effect on January 1st, 2024 and will be implemented gradually for all industries using HFC.
Laksmi reveals that Indonesia is arranging for new documents of the second Nationally Determined Contribution (ND) which regulates the use of ozone depleting substance through Montreal Kigali Protocol amendment.
In early 2023, Indonesia have ratified the protocol and by the end of the year the government has begun to prohibit or reduce the use of ozone depleting substance.
“When we suppress the use of ozone depleting substance, automatically we also reduce the greenhouse gas emission,” explained Laksmi.
