The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) firmly forbids the teacher with the status of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to ask for Eid Al-Fitr bonus to their student’s parents. This statement came out after a viral video of a teacher asking for Eid allowance to the student. “Even a teacher receiving a gift is already considered as a gratification and must be rejected immediately,” says the Deputy of Education and Community Participation of KPK, Wawan Wardiana as quoted from RRI, Thursday (4/4/24). Wawan explains that the allowance should be given to those who are capable in a position such as to their boss or leader. Also, it is not appropriate to ask, more so to the students or their parents. Moreover, asking for the allowance from the students also violates their position as ASN “Teachers are ASN, their wages were paid by the government and assigned to teach the students. If they are asking for allowance to the students, clearly it's forbidden, as it violates their position as ASN,” said Wawan. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
