inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) assures that the government will invite the disabled communities in the second phase of the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN). The invitation is to realize the capital city is inclusive and easy to access.

Deputy for the Study and Management of Political, Legal, Defense, Security and Human Rights Issues of KSP, Rumadi Ahmad says that currently the involvement of disabled communities and organizations are still low in the IKN construction development.

“In the next phase we will push this together so that the involvement of disabled communities would be more optimized,” said Rumadi on Tuesday (8/13/2024).

The construction will be divided into four phases, from 2022 to 2045. The first phase includes the construction of main infrastructure, which is almost complete. The second phase will begin in 2025 until 2029 which will develop public transportation construction, the expansion of the State Civil Apparatus neighborhood, and the development and maintenance of basic infrastructure.

Quoted from World Report on Disability, there are several priority points need to be noted for the development of inclusive environment for the disabled which includes proper accessibility standard policy, monitoring and evaluation on policy implementation, training and education on the disabled perspective, clear development and funding plans for the disabled, and the involvement of disabled communities in drafting the policies.
