Inp.polri.go.id - Penajam. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights is set to construct an international-standard prison in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, designed to accommodate 750 to 1,000 individuals. Chosen for its strategic proximity to the emerging Indonesian capital, Nusantara City, the site holds significant importance as the primary support area for the capital, said Acting Regent of Penajam Paser Utara Makmur Marbun on Saturday (11/11/23). The prison project in Penajam Paser Utara has been in the planning stages since 2008, with the designated location along Provincial Road Km 4 in Nenang Sub-District, Penajam District, covering an area of 39,050 square meters. The Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights' Regional Office, along with the project team, has conducted a thorough site survey, affirming the Ministry's dedication to advancing the prison's development. Marbun stressed the crucial role of the prison's construction in ensuring justice enforcement in the region, noting, "The presence of the prison can facilitate the judicial process. Even if individuals are found guilty, they should be placed in a facility that upholds humanitarian standards." (ar/inp/pr/nm)
