Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD has urged the police and the Constitutional Court (MK) to thoroughly investigate allegations of information leaks concerning the decision regarding the Legislative Election system.

"Regardless of any circumstances, the MK's decision must not be leaked prior to its announcement. The information provided by Denny establishes an unfavorable precedent and can be classified as the unauthorized disclosure of state secrets. The police should investigate the alleged A1 information, which is believed to be the source for Denny, in order to prevent it from fueling speculative and defamatory remarks," he said through his official Twitter account @mohmahfudmd on Monday (29/5/23).

He further emphasized that during his tenure as the Chairman of the MK, he refrained from seeking any information about undisclosed decisions. He also urged the MK to identify the responsible party for leaking the information.

"The confidentiality of the MK's decision remains intact until its official announcement. However, once the verdict is delivered through a formal and public session, it should be transparently accessible. Even as the former Chairman of the MK, I never dared to seek hints or inquire about unofficial verdicts. The MK must conduct an investigation to determine the source of this information," he stated.

Former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Denny Indrayana, previously made a claim stating that he received information regarding the MK's decision on the legislative election system, suggesting a return to a closed proportional system.

"This morning, I received crucial information. The MK will decide to revert the legislative election system to a closed proportional system, where only party symbols will be chosen," Denny tweeted from his Twitter account, @dennyindranaya, on Sunday (28/5/23).

In his tweet, Denny referred to his source within the MK without explicitly stating their identity. However, he assured that the source was not a constitutional judge, emphasizing their high credibility.

"Who is the source? It is someone whose credibility I highly trust, and certainly not a Constitutional Judge," he stated. "We are regressing to the Orba (New Order) electoral system: one that is authoritarian and prone to corruption."
