Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of Indonesian National Police (INP) announced on Tuesday (12/12/2023) a temporary suspension of manual ticketing for the Christmas and New Year holiday season. Emphasizing a lenient approach, he stated, "If there are violations, we will appeal, reprimand, remind, and temporarily refrain from issuing manual tickets." In collaboration with the Indonesian Military and other stakeholders, the INP deployed a joint force of 129,923 personnel to ensure public safety during the festive season. The police chief urged caution on the roads and emphasized safety despite the suspension of manual ticketing, calling for cooperation from those returning to their hometowns, stating, "In the series of Christmas and New Year activities, we urge the community to be cautious on the roads because the concept of safety must always be maintained." To enhance safety measures, he encouraged individuals to leave vehicles or valuables at the nearest police station if they felt unsafe at home. He reassured the public of police assistance with accommodation and security. "We have arranged our offices to accommodate individuals who wish to leave items, whether it be their vehicles or other valuable belongings.
