inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A new breakthrough in the agricultural sector came when Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman involved the Indonesian National Police (INP) in the simultaneous corn planting program.

This step is not common farming, but an exceptional strategy between the Agriculture Ministry and INP in realizing national corn self-sufficiency.

Minister Amran also conveyed that he had met with the INP Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to plan the cooperation between the two parties.

The program targets a total land of 1.7 million hectares which spreads across the country, from Central Kalimantan, to West Kalimantan, South Sumatra, South Sulawesi, Lampung, and Central Java.

From those, it is expected that it could boost corn production up to 4 tons, or 25% more than the current production.

However, this program not only just planting the seed, Minister Amran emphasized the importance of infrastructure support such as premium seed, irrigation, and sufficient production facilities.

In this collaboration, INP is seen to be a strategic partner in attending the production facility distribution to ensure smooth implementation at the field.

“INP will play a key role, particularly in ensuring the production facilities distribution is going smoothly and securely,” explains Minister Amran.

The step involving INP is considered an important breakthrough to create a stronger agriculture ecosystem. With the full support from various party, including security apparatus, the target of national corn self-sufficiency can be quickly realized.
