As the capital of Indonesia and one of the main economy and trade hubs of South Asia, Jakarta continues to further improve their public facilities, one of which includes Moda Raya Transportasi (MRT) Jakarta. MRT itself is a subway train that has 13 train stops. The train, which has the body of 16 km long, was first developed back in 2013 and inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in 2019. One of the train stops are ASEAN stop which are located right in front of ASEAN office. Coincide with Indonesia hosting the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta Convention Center, government appointed PT MRT Jakarta as the official transportation for the Summit. The appointment was marked with the release of limited ASEAN multi trip card. As part of inauguration of the card, President Jokowi used the first card for his trip to ASEAN office on August 8th, 2023. Corporate Secretary Division Head MRT Jakarta Ahmad Pratomo says that to support the 43rd ASEAN Summit and also to celebrate the 56th anniversary of ASEAN, his party will launch 2,000 limited ASEAN theme card edition. He says the card will only available in ASEAN MRT stop. “We also held an exhibition which will showcase the history of ASEAN. The exhibition will start from 8 to 13 August. We are proud to be part of the event and able to contribute to the 43rd ASEAN Summit,” says Ahmad. On the other hand, the spokeswoman of Transportation Ministry, Adita Irawati, ensures that MRT still operates as usual during the Summit. However, she said there are certain times that the service will be limited to accommodate the ASEAN delegates.
