Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, said that more than 2.6 million online gambling sites have been blocked from 17 July 2023, to 23 July 2024. 

The action has mitigated 50% of the potential negative impacts of online gambling on society, according to antaranews.com.

"To date, we have taken significant steps, particularly through the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, by blocking over 2.6 million online gambling sites," said Minister Budi Arie during a press conference on Thursday (25/7/2024).

In addition, the Ministry has prevented or halted gambling activities involving up to Rp 45 trillion. The Ministry has also collaborated with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to raise awareness about the dangers of online gambling for individuals, families, and the nation's economy.

"We recently had an in-depth discussion with MUI about the severe negative effects of online gambling on Indonesian society," Minister Budi Arie added.
