Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police has confirmed that security will remain stable as the 2024 Regional Elections approach.
During his promotion celebration at the Papua Police headquarters on Tuesday (27/8/2024), Papua Police Chief Commissioner General Matius D Fakhiri assured that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the elections are conducted safely and smoothly.
“We are committed to addressing potential security issues, especially in high-risk areas, to ensure the election process is secure and orderly,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
A final preparation check has been conducted with a total of 12,853 personnel from the police, military, and local security units, set to be deployed for 132 days starting Monday. The operation, known as Mantap Praja Cartenz 2024, includes detailed conflict mapping and preventive measures.
Chief Fakhiri emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with military units and local security forces to maintain peace in Papua.
“With the support and prayers from all religious leaders in Papua, we are confident that the region will remain peaceful,” he added.
