Police Reveals the Chronology Behind the Drowning of Seven Bodies in Bekasi river

inp.polri.go.id - Bekasi. Bekasi Sub-regional Metro Police reveals the chronology behind the dispersion of 60 teenagers who were about to clash in Cipendawa street, Bekasi. From the police raid, 22 delinquents were secured.

Head of Bekasi Sub-regional Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Assistant Superintendent Audy Joize Oroh explains that initially public reports there are 30 two-wheeled vehicles gathering at the location, along with the 60 teenagers. Furthermore, according to witnesses, the delinquents were having an alcohol party and indicated to bring sharp weapons with them.

Then, at around 03.30 am, police were coming to the location. Seeing the police coming towards them, the delinquents were running away in panic as some of them went towards Bekasi river.

“According to the witness, we were told that some of them jumped to the river and that some of them were scared before jumping,” says the police on Monday (9/23/2024).

Unfortunately, in the following morning, people found that there were seven bodies drowning in the river, allegedly to be the delinquents who were trying to escape from the police.

Currently the focus of the police is to identify the seven bodies and urge families who lost their children to report to the police.

On the other hand, police have arrested the 22 delinquents with 21 sharp weapons, 30 motorbikes, and eight handphones seized as evidence. A total of 23 witnesses have also been examined.
