Inp.polri.go.id - Palangka Raya.. The Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police has arrested a suspect involved in the illegal transportation of 8.4 tons of onions as confirmed by Central Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Djoko Poerwanto.
Central Kalimantan Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Erlan Munaji, explained that the operation was initiated following a tip-off about large quantities of onions entering Indonesia illegally.
The investigation led to the arrest of suspect RM (30) on Jl. Tjilik Riwut Km.10.5, Petuk Ketimpun, for transporting the onions without proper documentation.
The police confiscated a pickup truck, a large truck, and 430 sacks of onions, each weighing 20 to 15 kg, totaling 8.4 tons. Suspect RM faces charges under Articles 86 and 33(1) of Law No. 21 of 2019 on Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine, with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to Rp 10 billion.
