Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Criminal Investigation Agency has arrested a 36-year-old woman in Kalideres, Jakarta on charges of trafficking Indonesian women to Sydney, Australia, for commercial sex work.

The INP Criminal Investigation Agency’s Director, Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro, revealed that this case was a joint effort with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), which got the tip about the trafficking in September 2023.

The suspect, identified as FLA, was responsible for recruiting victims, arranging visas, and booking tickets. She reportedly collaborated with a suspect, identified as SS or Batman, who hosted the women in Sydney, and another suspect, identified as ALS, who acted as a pimp there.

SS was arrested by AFP on 10 July 2024, and is currently in custody in Sydney. Since 2019, suspects FLA and SS have trafficked around 50 Indonesian women, earning approximately Rp 500 million.

Suspect FLA faces up to 15 years in prison under Law No. 21/2007 on human trafficking
