Police Uncovered Human Trafficking Case at a Karaoke Business in Central Java

inp.polri.go.id - Central Java. The Central Java Regional Police uncovered a human trafficking case (TPPO) committed by suspect Sukini alias Tini (40). In this case, Tini has turned her victims into commercial sex workers (CSW).

"We got the information after one of her victims told her parents about her workplace at a restaurant owned by Tini. At the place, Tini has forced her waitresses to a CSW," said the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Dwi Subagio on Tuesday (4/2/25).

Dwi explained that the victim refused to work as CSW and demanded to go home. However, Tini made her pay IDR 1 million if she really wanted to go home.

The victim's parents, accompanied by local authorities, then made a report to the Central Java Regional Police.

After further investigation, the suspect was found to have a karaoke business and rented rooms for song guides/LCs who would provide sexual services to visitors.

"The suspect took a profit of IDR 20,000 from booking the LCs and IDR 50,000 from renting the rooms," he explained.

Dwi further explained that the suspect's place of business was in the Gunung Kemukus area, where there were many similar ones around.

The suspect was charged with Article 2 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Human Trafficking. Then, Article 296 of the Criminal Code concerning facilitating indecent acts and making it a livelihood. Then, Article 506 of the Criminal Code pimps profit from female prostitution.
