Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes (Satgas TPPO) under the Indonesian National Police (INP) led by the Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of INP, continues its enforcement efforts, resulting in the rescue of 2.549 victims. Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of Public Affairs Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division, reported that thousands of victims were rescued following the exposure of 794 cases between June 5 and August 27, 2023. "Out of 794 reports, investigators managed to arrest 962 suspects," he revealed in a written statement on Monday (8/28/23). Detailing the operational methods employed by the suspects, he explained that the most prevalent tactic was enticing victims with the prospect of employment as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) or Household Workers (PRT), accounting for 520 cases. "245 cases involve the exploitation of victims as Commercial Sex Workers (PSK), while 9 cases pertain to their recruitment under the guise of Seafarers (ABK). An additional 66 cases involve the child exploitation," he said. He concluded by relaying a message from the Chief of INP, advising the public not to easily fall for offers of high-paying jobs, both domestically and internationally. The Chief of INP, he added, urged the public to ensure whether the labor recruitment agencies are legitimate to secure their rights to social protection, welfare, and legal safeguards. (ay/pr/um)
