Satgas TPPO Rescues 2.263 Victims: INP

The Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes (Satgas TPPO) of the Indonesian National Police (INP) and Regional Police offices under the leadership of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has achieved a significant breakthrough by rescuing 2.263 victims. Thousands of victims were rescued after investigators uncovered 743 cases. The Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of the INP Public Relations, Police Brigadier General. Ahmad Ramadhan said, 743 cases were successfully disclosed in the period 5 June to 3 August 2023. "From 743 reports, investigators managed to arrest 889 suspects," said Police Brigadier General Ramadhan in a press conference, Friday (4/8/23). Regarding the criminal mode of the suspects, he said, the suspects who promised to work as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) or Domestic Workers (PRT) were the most with a total of 504 cases. "Furthermore, there were 217 cases of being used as Commercial Sex Workers (PSK), 9 cases of being used as Ship's Crew (ABK), and 57 cases of exploitation of children," he said. Police Brigadier General Ramadhan conveyed the message from Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo the Chief of Indonesian National Police, that people are not easily tempted by offers of high-paying jobs both at home and abroad. General Sigit asked the public to ensure whether the employment agency is legal, to obtain social, welfare, and legal protection rights. (ndt/hn/nm)
