The Nabire Police Sub-Regional Criminal Investigation Team, in collaboration with Smart Aviation, conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP) of the alleged shooting of the PK-SNO Caravan aircraft Serial No. 208B2375. "The team managed to find four holes in the left wing of the PK-SNO Caravan aircraft, Serial No. 208B2375, which is suspected to have been caused by two bullet projectiles that penetrated the plane," said the Chief of the Public Relations Department for the Papua Regional Police, Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo in a written statement, Tuesday (18/7/23). Chief of Nabire Sub-Regional Police, Police Superintendent I Ketut Suarnaya, explained that the plane was manned by Pilot M. Farhan F and Co-Pilot Wahyu. The aircraft made an early flight from Timika Airport, Kab. Mimika to Sugapa Airport, Kab. Diamond Jaya. "After transporting seven Mobile Brigade personnel, the plane continued its flight to Wagete Airport, Kab. Deiyai and Nabire Airport," he said. He also stated that the shooting allegedly occurred on July 18, 2023, at around 08.26 WIT, around Pogapa Airport, Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency. After the plane landed at the airport and was attacked, the team immediately coordinated with the Damai Cartenz 2023 Task Force. "Results of our coordination, when the plane landed at Pogapa Airport, Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency, to be precise, at the end of the airport, more than 10 gunshots were heard," he explained. The investigation, he said, is still ongoing and the police have yet to confirm who the perpetrators of the attack were. Information from witnesses and the results of processing the crime scene will continue to be collected to investigate this case. Police Superintendent I Ketut Suarnaya also appealed to the public to remain calm and not be provoked by issues that could cause panic. Thus, a safe and peaceful situation can be maintained during the investigation. "It should be noted that there were no fatalities or injuries in this incident, and the TKP team did not find any bullet projectiles allegedly fired into the fuselage," he said. (ay/pr/um)
