Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Senior Superintendent Alfian, the Director of the Narcotics Unit at Papua Regional Police, announced the arrest of two Papua New Guinean (PNG) men caught with 51 packs of marijuana from their country.
"The two PNG nationals were arrested after being caught red-handed with the marijuana in the early hours of Thursday, around 2:15 AM near Hamadi Hanurata," he said on Thursday (21/3/2024), as reported by antaranews.com.
The arrested PNG residents, Junior Lenga and Rindox, were found with 51 packs of marijuana concealed inside four bags of rice.
Further investigation revealed that Lenga was on the wanted list issued by Jayapura City Sub-regional Police. He had previously escaped from Abepura correctional facility in another marijuana smuggling case.
Superintendent Alfian urged the public to report any indication of illegal substances entering their area.
"Do not fear or hesitate to report any information related to the entry or circulation of marijuana," he emphasized.
