Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (Unesco) has recognized three Indonesian documents as Memory of the World for Asia and the Pacific in Ulan Bator.

"The three documents include the Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol manuscript, the Indarung Semen Padang archives, and the archives of the Indonesian Sugar Research Institute from 1887 to 1986," said Aditia Gunawan, the Chairperson of the Manuscript Management Working Group at the National Library (Perpusnas), on Wednesday (8/5/2024).

He explained that the Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol manuscript was proposed by Perpusnas and the West Sumatra administration, while the Indarung Semen Padang archives were proposed by PT Semen Padang, and the Indonesian Sugar Research Institute archives were proposed by the East Java Library and Archives Office and the Indonesian Sugar Research Institute.

This recognition confirmed the documents’ global significance as invaluable resources for research and education to understand Indonesian history and culture, according to antaranews.com.

Aditia highlighted the significance of the Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol manuscript, which contains teachings on peace and reconciliation, making it a rare and special document of global importance.

"It's the only one of its kind in the world," he noted, underlining its rarity and uniqueness.
