West Kalimantan Police Intensify Cyber Patrols for Peaceful 2024 Elections

Led by Superintendent Aswandi, the Head of the Cyber Sub-Task Force, the Cyber Sub-Task Force of Operation Mantap Brata Kapuas 2023-2024 of the West Kalimantan Regional Police has intensified cyber patrols on social media to counter fake news during the vote tallying process at the sub-district election committee, known as PPK, level.
The Head of Public Relations Unit of the West Kalimantan Police, Senior Superintendent Raden Petit Wijaya, explained that these cyber patrols aim to ensure security and prevent the spread of fake news in the digital realm during the vote tallying process, thus maintaining public order.
"The cyber sub-task force team will monitor various social media platforms and websites that have the potential to spread hoaxes, hate speech, and content that could disrupt public order during the vote tallying process," he said on Sunday (18/2/2024).
These cyber patrols are part of the police's efforts to create a safe and conducive environment during the 2024 elections.
"We urge the public to use social media wisely and refrain from spreading unverified information," he added.
The Cyber Sub-Task Force team will take firm action against individuals spreading fake news, hate speech, and divisive content, the spokesperson said.
"We will not hesitate to take decisive action against those who attempt to disrupt the 2024 elections," he said.
