President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, set off for the United States following his participation in the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Riyadh, stated the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday (12/12/23). The departure of President Jokowi was accompanied by a ceremonial send-off featuring Riyadh Deputy Governor Amir Mohammad bin Abdurrahman, Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Ahmad, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, and Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh Brigadier General Putut Witjaksono. Speaking at a press conference in Riyadh on Saturday (11/11/23), Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi underscored the importance of the Extraordinary OIC Summit in showcasing the unity of OIC member states and fostering additional efforts to promptly cease Israel's atrocities against the Palestinian people. "In his statement, President Jokowi stressed that the OIC must unite and take the lead in resolving the situation in Gaza," she declared. The summit reached its conclusion by adopting a resolution comprising 31 decisions that delivered strong messages concerning the humanitarian situation in Palestine. Notably, the resolution urged the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, and Nigeria to collectively take decisive action on behalf of the OIC and the Arab League. Accompanying President Jokowi on the flight to the United States are Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Presidential Military Secretary Rear Admiral Hersan, Commander of the Presidential Security Force Major General Rafael Granada Baay, and Acting Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat M Yusuf Permana.
