Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has signed Law Number 2 of 2024, on the Special Region of Jakarta, which outlines the shift of the capital from Jakarta to the Nusantara Capital (IKN). 

According to the State Secretary website jdih.setneg.go.id website on Monday (29/4/2024), Article 1 defines Jakarta as a province with unique governance under Indonesia's Unitary State. 

Article 63 of the Law specifies that Jakarta retains its capital status until the President decides on relocating it to IKN while, Article 66 allows governmental offices to stay in Jakarta as per Presidential Regulations. 

President Jokowi signed the Law on 25 April 25, 2024.
